Arrangiarsi

Italian for something like, "make your own way." Also the alternative title for this blog.

This spring, I am spending a semester abroad in the small, walled town of Urbino, Italy. Located in the Marche region just an hour from the Adriatic Sea, Urbino seems like real charmer. It's a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it's the birthplace of the famous painter, Rafael Sanzio. The local university, Carlo Bo, offers a variety of programs and has a history as rich as the town itself.

Admittedly, I feel a little intimidated. Urbino seems way cooler than me. Also, this will be my first time in Italy, and my Italian skills are, how you say, adeguati (adequate).

I am also the first student from my home university to attend a study abroad program at Urbino. So, essentially, I have no idea what I'm getting myself into.

Così è la vita.

This blog will document my adventures (and inevitable mis-adventures) abroad. I hope that my findings will help future students find their way if they choose to attend Carlo Bo. I also hope that this blog will help other explorers learn more about this charming Marche town, and perhaps inspire them to visit.

In many ways, this will be a practice in arrangiarsi. I will be "making my own way" in uncharted territory, and probably making a few missteps along the way. But isn't that the stuff of adventure?

May this website be a roadmap for future explorers.

This is Urbino, uncharted . . . at least for now.
